EVENTS: 15 April 2005 American Corner Naming Competition

Students Decide

To mark the anniversary of the opening of the American Corner at Plovdiv University we announce an essay competition for its naming among the students at the University.
Procedure:
1. Choose one of the following politicians, diplomats, intellectuals, artists, scientists and writers:

W.E.B. DuBois
Eugenie Anderson
Albert Einstein
Eleanor Roosevelt
Willa Cather
Walt Whitman
William Faulkner
Georgia O'Keeffe
Theodore Roosevelt

2. Write an essay explaining why, in your view, the American Corner at the University of Plovdiv should bear the name of the person of your choice. (Word limit 550-600)
3. Submit your essays in print (A4, Arial 11pt, Double space, margins) in the competition mailbox at the American Corner (New Building, rooms 501-502) by 15 April 2005. The title page should contain the full name, the registry number and the major of the author.
The best essay will give the name of the American Corner at Plovdiv University.
The authors of the top three essays will receive awards from representatives of the US Embassy in Bulgaria.
The authors of the top ten essays will be awarded an especially organized for them guided tour of the new premises of the US Embassy in Sofia which hosts an exquisite collection of contemporary Bulgarian and American Art.
